One of my favorite games as a child, when playing with my siblings, was Cops and Robbers. The neighbor’s utility shed was a bank, and my sister was the bank teller. I would cover my face with a bandana (robber) while my brothers (cops) shot me dead with toy pistols. There was never any negotiation, no effort to end the robbery peacefully. No shouting through a bullhorn for me to exit the bank with my hands up. No mother pleading with me to surrender.
