Love this. We also had a crank freezer and it was special. we shared with family and friends and made many different flavors. At the time we lived in western Michigan where blueberries and strawberries were in season that was the flavor of the moment. Peach also. People are missing out when they don't have those homemade ice cream memories.

My wife and I like ice cream but draw the line at Guinness flavour or Marmite flavour! We romanced over fish instead as the weather is rarely warm enough for ice cream outside in Scotland. Interesting what draws people together.

I, too, love this story. Ice cream was an important part of my upbringing. I nearly burst into tears when reading about your dad's discover of the missing ice cream maker. And again when your mom bought him a modern one. Wishing All Best Days.........M
